Pumpkin Carving & Halloween

Nathan wouldn't touch the inside of the pumpkins with his hands, he thought it was too yucky so he would only use a spoon to scoop everything out.  So because of that it took him a long time to clean out his pumpkin.

Here's all our pumpkins.

And this is what he dressed up as this year, Elmo.  He really liked his costume, he doesn't actually watch Sesame Street but he has a tickle me Elmo.

I was able to go around with them for a few houses so that I could get some pics but then I had to get back to our house to hand out candy so TJ & Nathan continued on through the neighbourhood.  They checked back in to drop off what he got in the first 40 minutes but Nathan wasn't ready to stop so they went back out for another 3o minutes & got a bunch more.  He lasted a lot longer than both TJ & I had expected.  Once he figured out what this was all about he was on a mission.  TJ said he would yell Trick or Treat while he was on the people's driveway & would then say it again once he was at the door.  He always had to be reminded to say thank-you though.  Funny how he remembered what to say to get the candy but not what to say after. :)

Going through his pile checking everything out.

Then it was Daddy's turn to go through everything.

We got you beat!

Sorry Cheryl but we got you beat!  The weekend all of us were at the cottage we got up to 32 levels high.  Try again... :)

We only had one move left at this point which was the one on the side at the very bottom and it was Andrew's turn so he was the one to make it collapse.

Our New Garden Shed

On Sunday, John & Cheryl came over to help put up our new shed. First the grass had to be dug up so that we could do a proper base for it. Here's everyone hard at work, even Nathan was quite the little helper.

Cheryl saw Nathan's beach wagon outside and brought it over so they started to fill that too. Then Nathan had to bring his load over to the pile just like Daddy was doing.

We were having a load of screening dropped off at around 12 pm so John & TJ went to Rona to get the shed and also the patio slabs we needed for the base. A short time later, John & TJ arrived back but with no shed....well looks as though the box for this shed was HUGE and wouldn't fit in the truck box so change of plans, John & Cheryl ran home to grab their trailer that they just bought this year (lucky for us :) ) that they knew would fit it. So we had some lunch and then the boys got back to work.

When John & Cheryl got back, John & TJ headed back to Rona and Nathan and Granny played some soccer.

While they were still out getting the shed, Granny and Nathan were having fun finding worms and picking them up. At first, Nathan didn't even want to touch them but after seeing Granny do it a few times, he was able to grab them and put them in his hand. At one point he stretched a poor worm so much that he ripped in two. Ewww!! That was gross!!

This is when Cheryl was hiding behind our garden box and he didn't know where she was.

Here's Nathan's working face lol Whatever needed to be done, Nathan was right there to help.

DAY 2

On Monday, Nick, Mikayla, Melissa and Andrew came over to help out and play too. Nathan was excited all morning to see Mikayla, when she got there they went right out to the trampoline together and Uncle Nick decided to join in too.

Then poor Mikayla got her hair stuck in the zipper on the trampoline enclosure but luckily Aunt Melissa was there to help her out.

And here it is!

After the work was done, TJ brought out his hacky sack and everyone had fun playing with that while Nathan and Mikayla went back and forth from the trampoline to the sand box.

A great end to a long weekend! Thanks SO much to all you guys for helping with the shed!! It was a lot of work! Now we get to move alot of our stuff from the garage to the shed so we can have a garage again :)

This Weekend

On Saturday night we went to Sunset Speedway to watch some races. Nathan loved it! Good thing we had ear plugs for him because man was it loud! Especially when a car would back fire right in front us, Nathan especially thought that was funny. I'm sure we'll be going again in the near future.

On Sunday John & Cheryl came up to drop off the trampoline we bought. It wouldn't fit in our car so they were so kind to bring it up for us in their truck. They took charge in setting it up as they are pros at it after 11 years of setting up their own. Thanks guys!! :)

Nathan couldn't wait...the enclosure wasn't up yet but he needed to test it out.

Elmvale's Maple Syrup Festival and Nathan's New Bike

On the weekend we went to Elmvale's Maple Syrup Festival. They close the street down for the day and a bunch of vendors set up to sell their brand of maple syrup and various goodies. The first store we went in had these big suckers so Nathan got to choose one and he sat for a while to enjoy it before moving on to the next thing.

Nathan loved going in the fire truck. He could have sat there all day I think.

He got all upset when it was time to get off the carousel. He loved riding the "horsie's" as he called them.

All 3 of us went for a ride in the strawberry one. It was fun. This other little boy ended up coming in ours. Both TJ and the little boy were spinning the center wheel which makes you spin faster and the little boy kept getting launched over to the open part or onto me. I kept asking him if he was ok and with a big smile he would say "yep" and get right back up and start spinning it again. It was so funny.

The car ride home :)

Later that day, we went to the rec complex where there's a nice big parking lot so Nathan could try out his new bike.

He rode around for close to an hour picking his own route as we followed . A great day!
