Elmvale Zoo

Yesterday TJ, Nathan and I went to the Elmvale Zoo which is about 20km north of Barrie. It was awesome! It was much better than the Toronto Zoo because you could see every animal in half the amount of walking. They had just about all the same animals as the Toronto Zoo with the exception of Buffalo's and Hippo's I think. And the cool thing about this zoo was that you could touch quite a few of them. In some areas the fence was actually stretched from the animals trying to score some treats. They had food you could buy to give to some of the animals which we did.

Then it was time for a little break from walking to play on the swings. Nathan walked/ran the whole time we were there except for the swings and lunch. We were there for just under 3 hours. At one point near the end I asked him if he wanted up and he shook his head no and kept on walking. He was a perfect little boy the whole time. :)

My 2 handsome boys.

These 2 really have a lot of fun together as you can see. :)

Nathan always said hi and waved to each animal and then before we'd leave, he would say bye to them and wave...too cute!

Not really sure what he was doing here...lol

Having some fun at the gift shop. We didn't buy anything, just played with some stuff for free then left...maybe next year lol

Nathan's First School Trip

Today Nathan had his first school trip to the apple orchard and I went with him as a parent volunteer. It was lots of fun! It was his first trip on a school bus and he was a perfect little passenger.

Before we left, he stood up to look around and said hello to a few friends.

All the kids were allowed to pick one apple that they could eat. He's not usually a big fan of apples but after I started it he became very interested and ate almost the whole thing. lol

Then he decided to sit down for a bit and his friend Luke from his class came over and sat next to him, it was so cute.
If there is a hill...Nathan will find it!
And here's the bus ride home. :)

Ready for Winter

Today we had John & Cheryl bring up a load of wood for us for the wood stove. Every year about this time they bring up some wood, unload it all then we go out for a nice lunch and today was just that. Although this time it poured!
Cheryl's such a trooper..no matter what job she has to do she always has a smile on her face. lol

Poor John..he was the one that had to move all the wood from the back of the truck to the front and got soaked. lol
And here's our wood pile. We still had a bunch from last year so now we are set for this year. Thanks you guys!! :)

Front Porch

We decided this weekend was a good time to fix up the front porch. The paint had been chipping away for a while and we noticed there was some rotting on some of the boards so off to Rona we went. We grabbed a belt sander and some paint and headed back home to get started.

He spent around 8 hours or so sanding.

We had to replace 4 boards in total.

Then it was time for painting. Luckily Nathan napped long enough that the two of us could get it painted rather quickly.

And here it is all shiny and new :)
